ABSTRACT/SUMMARY

During the time when elephants did not have trunks an inquisitive, little elephant tries to find out what the Crocodile eats for dinner.  When he asks the Crocodile himself, the little elephant has his nose grabbed and during the ensuing struggle his trunk is formed.  Despite his pain and fear of looking different, the elephant discovers his new nose has many uses.
