In the Native American culture, the relationship of the Native Americans and the animals they tended and hunted was very sacred.  This story reveals how the People and the Buffalo developed this special bond.

At first the Buffalo were very uncooperative when the People tried to hunt them.  With the coming of winter, the People faced hunger and cold so one brave young woman decided that she would sacrifice herself for the good of the People.  Through her sacrifice, her fatherís love, and the ability to create life, the Buffalo and the People forged an agreement that would provide both with what they really needed.
