ABSTRACT/SUMMARY

To fulfill his fervent dream of showing his family the beauty of the United States, in 1960 my dad took my mom, my sister, my brother, and me on a six-week long camping trip “out west.”  As an impressionable seven-year old, the most memorable part of the vacation for me was our stay at Yellowstone National Park. While the geysers, the mountains, and other unique wonders of that park were magnificent to behold, I was most captivated by the free-roaming bears and the adventures we had because of them. These experiences have become some of my most treasured family memories.
