 Storyteller Biography
Diane Bashaw

INTRODUCTION INFORMATION

I am a native Texan. I come from a large, close-knit family who still get together several times a year, for the fun of it. I have a supportive husband, two daughters and a poodle, who thinks he is part human. I volunteer at the library, school, and church, while also working on my graduate degree in Library Science.

STORYTELLING INTERESTS

I have always enjoyed working with children, much of which involved telling stories, whether through church, school, Girl Scouts, or family reunions. My mom often told us stories and I especially loved the ones about her childhood. I also remember when my sister and I used to write and tell stories, making it up as we went along. My daughters have inherited that desire to write stories, of which I am proud.

In the near future, I plan to be a Children's Librarian and the best part, for me, will be story time.  As a child and later, as an adult with my own children, I looked forward to story time at the local library. It was a sense of sharing and belonging, which I enjoyed, as much as hearing the story books told and acted out.
